Paul Shemilt, CHRP
Paul Shemilt of HR-HUB is a Certified Human Resources Professional whose career began as a Production Supervisor and progressed to a Corporate Director, Human Resources. Paul's career spans over 25 years with extensive experience optimizing people performance allowing organizations across Canada to attain challenging business objectives. Paul is recognized as a proactive and trusted business partner with an excellent track record within small local businesses and large global corporations. Paul has a unique blend of strengths in Employee Relations, Organizational Development, Recruitment, Performance Management, Change Management and Health, Safety & Wellness.

Paul has established, developed and managed a number of Human Resource functions in several locations. He has coached individuals and developed teams. Paul has been a Leadership Team member for several Manufacturing/Distribution Facilities and received recognition for helping one facility change its entire mode of operation and another to achieve dramatic improvement in results which included meeting its budget objectives for the first time in five years.

Paul has extensive experience in such areas as developing short and long-term HR strategies, recruiting excellent candidates, developing competencies, putting development plans in place, performance management, coaching, policy development and training. He has facilitated the entire Human Resource Review systems for organizations identifying: Critical HR Issues, Key Issues, Successors to the Key Positions and Development Plans for Key Successors. He has also worked on Pay Equity Projects and worked on a number of compensation initiatives both within union and non-union environments.

Paul has successfully negotiated fifteen labour agreements with national and international unions across Canada. He has initiated proactive labour relations practices that has improved morale and often reduced grievances. Paul was Chief Spokesperson and negotiated a global manufacturing facility's first 4-year Collective Agreement at a location where previously there had been poor relations. Conversely, he has also been successful in troubleshooting and remedying situations where there was significant threat of employees at a non-union location becoming unionized. While responsible for Corporate Health & Safety and reporting directly to the Company President, Paul proposed, developed and instituted a full wellness program that turned a potential Workers' Compensation surcharge to a $1.2 million refund.

Paul's demonstrated ability to apply his knowledge, experience and leadership skills prompted him to start a company, HR-HUB to provide human resource solutions for small and medium size businesses.
